What is a Salary to Hourly Calculator?
A salary to hourly calculator converts your annual or monthly salary into an equivalent hourly rate. Useful for comparing job offers, freelancing rates, or understanding what you earn per hour.
The Formula
Hourly Rate = Annual Salary ÷ (Hours per Week × 52)
Or: Hourly Rate = (Monthly Salary × 12) ÷ (Hours per Week × 52)
Example
- Annual salary: £35,000
- Hours per week: 40
- Annual hours: 40 × 52 = 2,080
- Hourly rate: 35,000 ÷ 2,080 ≈ £16.83/hour
What This Calculator Excludes
- Overtime pay
- Bonuses
- Benefits (pension, health)
- Holiday entitlement
- Tax and deductions
Frequently Asked Questions

Typically 2,080 (40 hours × 52 weeks). Some use 2,000 or 1,960 to account for holidays.

Use gross (before tax) for consistency. Net would give a lower hourly rate after deductions.
